And not just a fruit, it's a berry. It's also ultra healthy. Here's a few facts about avocados. 1. Avocado lowers cholesterol, by blocking the absorption into the bloodstream. 2. Avocado reduces risk of heart disease. They contain unsaturated fats, which helps reduce fat intake. 3. Avocado lowers cancer risk as it helps absorb antioxidants, which help prevent cancers. 4. Avocado keeps blood sugar steady in 2 ways. The healthy fats avocado contains help slow digestion, and they also contain a soluble fiber that helps stabilize blood sugars. 5. Avocados are gluten, dairy, cholesterol and sodium free. They are also great for vegans and babies. 6. Avocados have over 20 vitamins and minerals. Just some of these are potassium, B6, E, C, magnesium and iron. They are an absolute powerhouse of nutrition. 7. You can use avocado instead of butter in recipes. It's a heart healthy choice. 9. Avocado helps maintain hair health. Avocado will add protein to the hair to strengthen it. To make up a treatment mask for the hair, mix a teaspoon of wheat germ oil, a teaspoon of jojoba oil with a ripe avocado. Apply to your damp washed hair, comb through and place a shower cap over your hair. Let sit for 30 mins, then rinse thoroughly.
