Things To Remember When Writing A Bipolar Romance Novel Biography

By Robert Moore

Writing is an art, regardless of what you are writing. Being able to convey thoughts, experiences and concepts through words, artfully has, is and always will be of good value to humans. This is what separates us as animals.

There are many perspectives that mental illness can be viewed through. There may be the perspective of the one plagued with the illness, and the one who has to deal with the person who is with the disease. Writing a bipolar romance novel biography, may involve ups and downs and tears, lots of it.

On the end of the protagonist with bipolar sits the psychological turmoil that mixes feeling with the chemicals in their head. Going to the psychiatrist is one facet of the story that makes good dialogue and an avenue to show character development. The transition from finally conceding to get help, start seeing the doctor and so on can tell the reader how tasking it can be to deal with mental disorders.

Coping mechanisms are being explored. One possible angle to start with would be how the illness starts to manifest itself. Bipolar is characterized by manic and depressive episodes which can switch in a certain pattern. The more scientific side of this should be backed up by research, since it is a biography after all. This would matter depending on the type of bipolar the person has.

There are 3 major types. Bipolar I, II and cyclothymia. The first one can have manic episodes that can last for 7 days. The depression can then last up to two weeks. Now think about how this can affect any romantic relationship. The manic state is not even supposed to be a kind of euphoria, it may be something daring and destructive.

The depressive states tend to be painful, not only for the one who has the illness by for the lover too. Lifting the weight of the world from their shoulders is easier said than done. On most days it would just be them lying in bed and the lover trying endlessly to console them.

The depressive episodes are painful to look at especially for the lover. Of course, fighting this kind of inner demon is no simple feat but there is also a different experience and feeling for the other person who sees their loved one suffering. During the worst times, even all the love that can be given would not be enough to heal and bring them to get out of bed.

There have been many movies that show disorders, but one that is notable and is a biography is from 1999 called Girl, Interrupted. This was not at all a romance flick, but it accurately showed the life of those that suffer psychologically. The movie was based on the novel biography written by Susanna Kaysen, the protagonist.

The beautiful thing about writing a biography is how it allows you to examine things in retrospect. Once the words, paragraphs and events in the story come together, one has the chance to see things from a distance. This lets you pinpoint vital parts and turning points in a life of a person and is a great legacy to leave humankind and those that have to go through the same plight.
