Tanisha Toney Burke posted in Weight Loss Secrets . Tanisha Toney Burke January 24 at 12:34am DO YOU SUPPLEMENT? We have been hearing a lot of people saying they dont believe in supplements and that they get their nutrients from food. Well in a perfect world that would be good enough for us, however this is not a perfect world. It is impossible to get all the essential vitamins, minerals etc from food. Here is why, "Farmers today can grow two to three times as much grain, fruit, and vegetables on a plot of land as they could 50 years ago, but the nutritional quality of many crops has declined, according to a new report from The Organic Center, a group based in Boulder, Colorado. "Less nutrition per calorie consumed affects consumers in much in the same way as monetary inflation; that is, we have more food, but it's worth less in terms of nutritional value." According to the report, Still No Free Lunch, food scientists have compared the nutritional levels of modern crops with historic, and generally lower-yielding, ones. Today's food produces 10 to 25 percent less iron, zinc, protein, calcium, vitamin C, and other nutrients, the studies show. Researchers from Washington State University who analyzed 63 spring wheat cultivars grown between 1842 and 2003 found an 11% decline in iron content, a 16% decline in copper, a 25% decline in zinc, and a 50% decline in selenium. "Less nutrient-dense foods, coupled with poor food choices, go a long way toward explaining today's epidemics of obesity and diabetes," says The Organic Center's chief scientist, Charles Benbrook. Plants cultivated to produce higher yields tend to have less energy for other activities like growing deep roots and generating phytochemicals—health-promoting compounds like antioxidants—the report explains. And conventional farming methods, such as close plant spacing and the application of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, often cause crops to absorb fewer nutrients and have unhealthy root systems and less flavor, and sometimes make them more vulnerable to pests." Now, that fact being in place, each of us is a physiological and biomechanical organism that requires nutrients in order to function properly. Because of the facts stated above, we as a country suffer from nutritional deficiencies. Crops have had a steady decline in nutritional content for years due to farmers having to turn crops over so quickly and the use of GMO. GMO is here to stay and is virtually how everything is grown these days, even the organic foods are modified on some level. (We can explain this at length for those interested) To get the nutrients our body needs for optimal health we have to consume much more. For example, 1 cup of broccoli in 1950 is equivalent to 5lbs of broccoli today. We don't know about you, but we can't eat 5lbs of broccoli a day. This is where supplementation comes into play. Supplements fill the gaps our foods leave. As an example 98% of people have an omega-3 deficiency. Not to mention other vital nutrients. Now, imagine if you are an athelte or even mildly active. The B-vitamins we need to provide oxygen to our blood which also increase energy are non existent in food. Amino Acids that help not only gain lean muscle but help prevent muscle wasting are non existent in food. ☆How is an athelete to perform at optimal levels with so many deficiencies?☆ The answer is simple, they use supplements!! We're not even going to get into the chemicals, preservatives etc in the foods that build up and cause a variety of health issues including, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, thyroid disease, cancer, etc. The bottom line is, there are so many nutritional gaps to fill it is IMPOSSIBLE to do with food. Now, in closing we will say most supplements available are just as tainted as the deficient foods. The majority of companies use heat to process their supplements which subsequently strips the nutritional value. How are we to overcome this? By finding a company that uses only the highest quality, pure ingredients, that are tested and certified and only processed with cold filtering to sustain the nutrient value. That's exactly why we partnered with a company that provides all of the above! FIND OUT WHY THE PROS USE IT & WE BUILD CHAMPIONS!
